Welcome to Fore-The-Youth AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM!

 The Fore-The-Youth After-School Golf Program, inspired by the Australian MyGolf Schools2 model, introduces students to the game of golf through structured, enjoyable, and skill-building activities. The program is designed to provide students with fundamental golf skills while incorporating physical activity, teamwork, and life skills development.

Target Group: Students aged 8-15 years
Program Duration: 8-week program (twice per week)
Session Length: 1.5 hours per session
Location: School premises, community centers, churches, or home
Capacity: 15-20 students per group

The program will be offered to students after school, providing a safe, fun, and educational alternative to traditional after-school care.

Program Goals

Introduce Students to Golf

 Engage students in a structured program that introduces them to the basics of golf. 

Promote Physical Fitness

 Provide opportunities for students to engage in regular physical activity. 

Foster Life Skills

 Teach students essential life skills such as patience, focus, resilience, and teamwork through golf. 

Encourage Continued Participation

 Encourage students to pursue golf beyond the program, fostering lifelong participation in the sport. 

Promote Inclusive Learning

 Create an inclusive environment where students of all abilities can learn and develop their golf skills. 

Program Structure

 The Fore-The-Youth After-School Golf Program follows a clear progression that allows students to develop their golf skills week by week, building a strong foundation while ensuring sessions are engaging and enjoyable.

Weekly Session Breakdown

Week 1: Introduction to Golf

 

  • Objectives: Introduce students to the game, its history, and basic equipment.
  • Key Topics: Overview of golf, etiquette, and rules.
  • Activities:
  •         Group icebreakers and golf-related games.
  •         Putting exercises to familiarize students with the equipment.

Week 2: The Grip and Stance

  • Objectives: Teach students the proper grip and stance.
  • Key Topics: Correct hand placement and balance.
  • Activities:
  •       Drills focusing on grip, stance, and alignment.
  •       Partner exercises to reinforce posture.

Week 3: The Swing (Part 1)

 

  • Objectives: Introduce the basics of the golf swing.
  • Key Topics: Body rotation, swing path, and follow-through.
  • Activities:
  •      Swing drills with mid-irons.
  •      Short games focused on distance control.

Week 4: The Swing (Part 2)

 

  • Objectives: Refine swing mechanics and balance.
  • Key Topics: Improving accuracy and consistency.
  • Activities:
  •      Driving practice with longer irons and woods.
  •      Swing analysis using golf technology (SMARTGolf AIX).

Week 5: Short Game Skills

 

  • Objectives: Develop students’ short game abilities.
  • Key Topics: Chipping, pitching, and bunker shots.
  • Activities:
  •      Skill stations for different short game scenarios.
  •      Fun challenges to improve accuracy around the greens.

Week 6: Course Management

 

  • Objectives: Teach students about strategy and course management.
  • Key Topics: Reading the course, shot selection, and adapting to conditions.
  • Activities:
  •      Simulated course play using indoor golf technology.
  •      Strategic thinking games.

Week 7: STEM in Golf

 

  • Objectives: Introduce students to STEM concepts using golf.
  • Key Topics: Golf ball flight, physics, and data analysis.
  • Activities:
  •      Use launch monitors to analyze swing speed and ball trajectory.
  •      Understanding how math and physics apply to golf.

Week 8: Tournament and Celebration

  • Objectives: Apply learned skills in a fun and competitive format.
  • Key Topics: Competition etiquette and sportsmanship.
  • Activities:
  •      Mini-tournament for students to showcase their skills.
  •      Award ceremony with certificates and recognition.

Key Program Components

 PGA pro golf coaches and trained volunteers will lead the program.

Equipment Provided

  All necessary in-class golf equipment will be supplied, ensuring every student has the tools to succeed, regardless of their background or prior experience.

Golf Technology

  SMARTGolf AIX, PUTTR putting mat and other golf-related technologies will be integrated to enhance learning and provide data-driven feedback.

  The program is designed to progressively build students' confidence and skills, ensuring they develop a well-rounded understanding of the game. 

Life Skills Focus

 Beyond golf, the program emphasizes life skills such as discipline, focus, and resilience, which students can apply in other areas of their lives.

Parent Engagement

 Periodic updates will be provided to parents, with opportunities for family involvement during special events and the graduation ceremony. 

Program Fees and Registration

Fees

 The program offers a cost-effective solution for parents seeking high-quality after-school care. The one-time fee of $300 ($37.50/week) covers all instruction, classroom equipment, and materials during the entire 8-weeks. Scholarships will be available for families in need.
